Within these past few months, I have concluded that I'm malnourished, so I've been looking for a better solution for getting my nutritional supplements as well as fruits and vegetables. My Aunt Linda suggested blending raw foods, which caused me to return to the idea of a homemade breakfast shake. I fortunately stumbled upon a good recipe that I've since made my own. Here it is:
Non-Dairy Protein Smoothie
6oz Vanilla Soy Milk (calcium fortified)
1 scoop Vanilla flavored soy protein powder with Spirulina
1/2 cup frozen strawberries (approx. 4-5)
1/2 cup frozen mango pieces (approx. 4-5)
1/2 banana
2 ice cubes
Pour soy milk and protein powder into a blender. Blend briefly to mix well. Add the strawberries, mango, banana, and ice cubes. Blend thoroughly. Makes approximately 16oz.
You can also use 4oz calcium-fortified apple juice and 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt for the soy milk.
Happy blending!!
